Dean of Students Funds

Your financial contributions directly strengthen our support services for students in need. Choose a fund to make a lasting impact:

The Student Crisis Fund enables us to award Economic Crisis Response Grants when a verified crisis has negatively impacted a student's health, safety, well-being and their ability to continue their education. Our goal is to alleviate the hardships that some of our students encounter and ensure their academic experience remains uninterrupted.

Donate to the UMD Student Crisis Fund

The Fostering Terp Success Program Fund enables our staff to purchase supplies to meet students’ essential needs and provide programmatic support. Funds are used to purchase hygiene items (soap, toothpaste, shampoo, etc.), school supplies, public transportation/Metro cards, grocery cards, graduation regalia (caps & gowns) and to support the valuable services and resources provided by the Fostering Terp Success program.

Support the Fostering Terp Success Program Fund

The Fostering Terp Success Scholarship Fund provides scholarships and micro-grants to Fostering Terp Success (FTS) students with unmet needs, which often include tuition and fees, meal plans or emergencies. Scholarship funds are also used to provide end-of-semester stipends to those FTS students who complete the requirements of the program (e.g., meeting regularly with their campus coach). Scholarship fund awards are made directly to the FTS student in need.

Volunteer & Other Donation Opportunities

Help Terps by donating food, clothing or funds, or by volunteering your time. Every contribution makes a difference.

Campus Pantry

Support the UMD Campus Pantry by donating non-perishable food. Items can be dropped off at the Pantry Welcome Desk during open hours. Please package donations in a bag or box. For large or special donations, email campuspantry@umd.edu.

Sign up for Pantry shifts to assist with stocking, distributions and visitor support.

Terp to Terp Campus ReUse Store

Donate gently used household items, school supplies, small appliances and clean clothing to the Terp-to-Terp Campus ReUse Store. Students can drop off items at residence hall collection bins near service desks. Community members may bring donations to the Campus Pantry Welcome Desk (Monday–Friday, 10:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.).

Volunteer with Terp-to-Terp to support sustainability and essential needs.

Host a Food Drive

Help fight food insecurity by hosting a food drive through your club, organization, residence hall or office. Contact the Pantry team at campuspantry@umd.edu or 301-405-9579 to get started.

Become a Coach

Faculty and staff can serve as campus coaches for students in the Fostering Terp Success program. Coaches provide one-on-one mentoring to help students navigate the university, build on their strengths, work through challenges, expand their networks and feel supported in their academic journey.
