Tutoring & Academic Success

UMD offers tutoring and academic support for subjects like math and writing. Use the guide from the Tutoring & Academic Success website to find tutoring options, study resources and strategies to help you succeed.

Re-Enrollment at UMD

The Student Success Office is your starting point for re-enrolling at UMD. Their website has the re-enrollment application and step-by-step instructions.

Leaves of Absence or Withdrawal

Submit a withdrawal form to the Office of the Registrar by the last day of classes. Retroactive withdrawals may be granted in exceptional cases with proper documentation. Students may request a withdrawal anytime during the semester.

Ombuds Services

The University of Maryland Ombuds Services provides a confidential, neutral and independent resource to talk through concerns, resolve conflicts and explore options in a safe and supportive environment.

Support From the Dean of Students Office

We are here to guide you, connect you to resources and support you through challenges that affect your academic progress.

If you miss class due to illness or family emergencies, start by contacting your professors to explain your situation and request extensions. The Dean of Students Office can step in to assist with communication or provide additional support to keep you on track.

If mental or emotional challenges affect your ability to keep up with classes, begin by letting your professors know what’s going on and exploring possible accommodations. The Dean of Students Office can help you navigate this process and connect you to additional resources.

If your separation from the university was disciplinary or conduct-related, the Dean of Students Office can help you plan your return and provide guidance for a successful reentry.
